I think you meant GDDR4? Yes I'm a tad bit biased towards nvidia because i own an nforce 680i board so if i ever need to go sli id like nvidia But looking from at the guru3d review, the 2900xt seems to get up to 90c under load which is insane.
It seems like the card has one major problem holding it back, power draw - if the card power profile could be improved (65 nm?) then the clocks could likely be dialed up and then the addition of 65nm and GDDR4 might actually yield some interesting results in terms of the performance VS the 8800 GTX.

You won't get an argument from me that the 8800 is a better card, all I am suggesting is that even though ATI seem to fumble this generation a bit (seemingly hangover from the merger) they look to be onto something in terms of the architecture.
Everything I have read shows its temp profile to be on par with the NVIDIA cards, where it suffers is in power drain.
